Gulmarg

Gulmarg (meadow of flowers) known as the queen of hill stations is about 56 Kms from Srinagar. situated at an altitude of 2730 Mts. it turns into a meadow of romance in winter. every season brings a new dimension of beauty to gulmarg from the soft pastel shades of spring the colors deepen into the vibrant hues of summer. gulmarg offers a magnificent view of the Nanga Parbat one of the highest mountains in the world and is an excellent winter sports center. gulmarg has now achieved the crown to be the worlds highest and best ski resort. it also has the highest golf course in the world. it is a dream destination of honeymooners. Gulmarg also has the worlds highest cable car known as Gondola, that will take you to the ride of Heaven.
places to visit include: Alpather Lake- the highest frozen lake in Himalayas, Khilanmarg- known as carpet of flowers, Ningal Nallah- the stream flows from the snow bed and springs near Apharwat and Alpather and cuts through picturesque pine forests.
Ziyarat of Baba Reshi (AR)
A muslim shrine 5 Kms east of gulmarg. the path leads through thick forest.the Ziyarat or Tomb is that of Baba Payam-ud-din, a noted saint who lived and devoted his entire life to Allah during Mughal Rule. Both muslims and hindus make offerings here.
